Off the Cornish coast
Isles of Scilly posters
The Isles of Scilly — the archipelago 28 miles southwest of Land's End, five inhabited islands (St Mary's, Tresco, Bryher, St Martin's, St Agnes) and a constellation of uninhabited granite rocks. White-sand beaches, sub-tropical gardens (Tresco Abbey Garden), shipwrecks, seabirds, and water that ranges through every shade of turquoise on a still day.
Aerial photography suits Scilly especially well. The relationship between the islands — sandbars at low tide, shoals threading between them — only really makes sense from above. From walking the islands you see the beaches; from the air you see the archipelago.
